About the event

Staff and volunteers working in many community organisations face emotionally charged situations every day, with people experiencing increasing financial hardship, mental health challenges or substance use crises. These interactions can be difficult to navigate and may escalate to conflict quickly.

While this training has been designed for neighbourhood houses, the skills and strategies are equally relevant to anyone working on the frontline in community settings.

This training provides practical safety and de-escalation skills to help participants protect their safety and wellbeing, while maintaining a supportive and community-minded approach.

Participants will learn to:

  • Recognise escalation early, before it becomes aggression

  • Use tools and techniques to reduce anxiety under pressure
