About the event

Neighbourhood house staff and volunteers face emotionally charged situations every day, with people facing greater financial hardship, experiencing mental health or substance abuse crises. These interactions are difficult to navigate and can escalate to conflict quickly.

This training gives your team practical safety and de-escalation skills that gives them confidence to protect their safety and wellbeing, without sacrificing the supportive and community-minded nature of our neighbourhood houses.

They'll learn:

  • to recognise escalation early, before it becomes aggression

  • tools and techniques to reduce anxiety under pressure

  • to practise handling misbehaving or difficult members of the community
