A lasting legacy in Corryong
This year has been a period of immense change for Corryong Neighbourhood Centre (CNC), with the sale of the bakery and centre building marking the start of a slow wind-down. Despite these changes, CNC continues to support the community, providing services through Vic Roads and Services Australia and remaining open Tuesday to Thursday, 11 am–3 pm.
Coordinator Sara Jenkins reflected on the process: “It’s been a long and very challenging year, but we’ve managed to keep services running while navigating the sale of properties. I’m proud of the team and the resilience of everyone involved during this time.”
Sara also highlighted the CNC's achievements: “There’s so much to be proud of — from our many programs and projects supporting young people, the support for the community during the 2019 bushfires, to the wonderful volunteers and community members who have contributed over the years. The impact of CNC goes far beyond the walls of the building.”
Looking ahead, Sara explained that there is still important work going on behind the scenes, including discussions with Towong Shire about future arrangements. “Even as we transition, it’s a time to celebrate all that CNC has achieved and the strong, connected community that has grown around it,” she said.
Through decades of service, CNC has provided a hub for learning, connection, and support in Corryong, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit the community long into the future.
